Netanyahu and Gallant Face ICC Arrest Warrants Over Gaza Conflict

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has formally issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of crimes against humanity and war crimes in connection with the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The warrants were issued in response to accusations that Israel intentionally blocked vital supplies, including food, water, and medicine, from reaching Gaza’s civilian population.

Both Netanyahu and Gallant could be arrested if they travel to any of the more than 120 countries that are signatories to the ICC.

However, as Israel and the United States are not members, the enforcement of these warrants relies on international cooperation.

The Israeli government strongly rejected the charges, calling the decision politically motivated and antisemitic, and emphasized its commitment to defending its citizens.

The ICC’s prosecutor, Karim Khan, who requested the warrants, is currently under investigation over allegations of sexual misconduct, adding further controversy to the case.

Despite the ICC’s jurisdiction, Israel maintains it will continue to challenge what it considers "false" charges and defend its actions in Gaza.
