On Tuesday, 27 August, the ICC announced that Jay Shah has been elected as the new Chairman of the ICC.

Shah, 35, was elected unopposed and is also the youngest person to become ICC chairman.

The last date for filing nominations for the post of ICC chairman was August 27 and earlier there were reports that Shah had received support from ICC members.

Thus, this has been proven true after the 35-year-old was elected unopposed.

Shah said, I agree with the nomination for the post of President of the International Cricket Council.

We stand at a critical juncture where it has become increasingly important to balance the co-existence of multiple formats, promote the adoption of advanced technologies and introduce our flagship programs to new global markets.

While we will build on the valuable lessons learned, we also need to embrace new thinking and innovation to grow the love for cricket across the world.

The inclusion of our sport in the Olympics in LA 2028 represents a turning point for the development of cricket, and I am confident that it will take the game forward in unprecedented ways,” he said.

Shah will continue to perform his duties as BCCI secretary till December 1.

It remains to be seen who will be Shah's successor for the post of secretary.
