Shaheen Shah Afridi Left Out Of The Second Bangladesh Test

Pakistan's pace attack spearhead Shaheen Afridi has been left out of the 12-member shortlist for the second Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.

Left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi, who took 2 for 96 in the first Test played in Islamabad, had pulled out of the squad to be with his family for the birth of his child.

However, he joined the squad on Thursday evening for the second Test. "Shaheen has been ruled out of this game.

We have had a good conversation with him and he completely understands and appreciates the thinking behind it. Shaheen has been given some feedback.

He is working on a few things in his bowling so that he can be as effective as possible. He is working really well with Azhar Mahmood.

We want to see Shaheen at his best because we have a lot of cricket to play across formats and Shaheen is going to play a really big role "There's no doubt about it," Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie said, without giving any reason for the top pacer's exclusion.

Shaheen's form has been a matter of concern for Pakistan last year. Last year, he took 14 wickets in four Tests at an average of nearly 40.

While many home Test matches for Pakistan have been played in adverse conditions in the last few years, Shaheen was also unable to make a mark in Australia. His performance in ODIs and T20s was quite good, but there was a lot of difference in his performance in the past years.

Although Gillespie did not mention whether the fast bowler has been dropped from the squad, he said, "The last few weeks have been very interesting for Shaheen. He has become a new father.

We are looking for an opportunity where we can allow him to spend some time with his family." Pakistan have added spinner Abrar Ahmed to the squad. First Test to play for Pakistan Shaheen's against Bangladesh A.

He is the only spinner named in the squad and his selection may be on the Rawalpindi pitch, which has been under covers due to rain recently.

Abrar last played a Test match more than a year ago. "We're looking to find our best combination in this game," Gillespie said. "We will look at the conditions and decide what is the best form of our bowling attack.

Because of the weather we have not been able to see the surface much, so we want to name 12 players. We want to get as much information as possible before selecting the team that we think is most capable of taking 20 wickets.

Khurram and Aamir jamal were recalled to the squad for the second test, have not considered, While Mir Hamza found place in the 12 members squad.
